April 05 A joy of travelI should have gone for the gym for my own good but then Robert was seducing me with gin & tonic. Bad boy! Anyway, it is not too bad cos now I have time to write something here! It has been a good past few months of traveling, especially when you travel with someone who know what you like and don't like. Robert was traveling with me as a friend, a husband, and a passenger! We went to California for almost 2 weeks. I always hate traveling as a passenger on a long haul flight. It took 16 hours to get to LA. How many times do you look at your watch while you are on a flight? I tried not to look at it. It was such a torture!
We drove to Santa Barbara right after we landed in LA. Not a good choice after you just did 16 hr flight. We had to stop periodically as the driver almost fell asleep while driving! Santa Barbara is such a lovely town. Expensive though. Wish we could afford and have a summer house there. Dreaming... Then we were off to Las Vegas, a sin city. It was my first time of gambling. Well, I had no luck! I do not understand why people want to waste their money to stupid little machines. They spend whole days and nights pushing the buttons wishing become a millionaire? They are dreaming too. Only a couples of days there is more than enough. Not many attractions there except a few fancy hotels. So we were happy to go to San Francisco next.
I like San Francisco. I always like to be by the sea. And I heard the sealions cry for the first time at Pier 39. What a funny sound. Kind of cute!! I think they are cute. I like the way they cuddle each other. They do not want to be alone, always want someone to be with them. So sweet. I also had a wine tasting for the first time too! Many of my first times on this trip. We started to taste the wine in the morning and my stomach was still empty so I felt like we had been drinking a few bottles. A bit too much really. But I learnt how to taste the wine properly. So I am quite proud of myself
Then we flew to New York on American Airlines. My first time on AA (again). That reminded me how good the service on Emirates or other asian airlines are. Alomost 6 hours from SFO to JFK, we got offered for drinks only once. Everything else you want, you need to get your little money out of your pocket. And when I went to the galley and asked for a drink, I was told off to go back to my seat as they were about to do the bar service soon. But where were they. Maybe they must have done it when we left the plane.
It was not a good timing to come to New York at that time as they were having a snow storm! We were crazy enough to go out to the Time square to enjoy the snow falling though. We were not prepared for that. We only had clothes that are good for about 10 degrees but at that time it was about -5 or -10!! Freezing! I did see my old friend, Tarn, there again. Always nice to see her. We had lots to catch up with. And New york is always good for the plays. We went to see the Impressionism on Broadway. Nice evening. But we came back to Dubai one day late as they were having a snow storm there. However, it was good as the flight was so light that we could have 4 seats for sleeping. Not good for the airline though. And that's why there is no bonus for us this year.
After a trip to America, we flew to Singapore. Nice to go back there. Though it was raining. We did enjoy it. And lately we went to Japan. It was the last month that Emirates fly to Nagoya so I was quite lucky that I had 2 flights last month. Robert was coming with me on the 2nd flight. We took a bullet trian, Shinkansen, to Kyoto. It was quite a expensive way to travel yet very fast! We walked around town a lot. And did see some beautiful cherry blossom. But it did not come out all over places just only some place. I was quite pleased to see it since you can see it only once a year. And we did enjoy eating japanese food. Eventhough the first restaurant we went to have a first meal dont have an english menu and staff dont speak english so i just went to the kitchen and point out what I want. But they were very helpful and nice to us. So I hope we will go back to Japan again soon. I want to see Tokyo!
Only one week from now we will go back to Thailand for a Thai's New Year. Something to look forward to. I am sure we will have a good time. I do miss Thai massage. And yes we will go back to Worabura where we had our wedding. It will be our 6th month anniversary. Can't wait. Anyway, Happy Songkran everyone. February 09 Love actuallyObviously I could not keep my last year resolutions!! I was not very good at that. It has been a long long time since I last wrote my little blog. However, lots of things happened in the past year and it was all the good news. I am no longer Ms. Khongjaroon but Mrs. Scott! Yes I am married..to the guy that I could not live without. Robert and I had a wedding in Hua Hin, Thailand on 16th October 2008. It was such a pretty and memorable day. Our friends and families were there to celebrate with us. We had a Thai traditional wedding ceremony in early morning and followed by the Christian ceremony by the beach. I was truly happy that I could not find words to explain that feelings. I have posted some wedding pictures. Absolutely pictures are worth a thousand words! After a wedding we went for a honeymoon in Italy. It was such a romantic country. We flew to Venice and spent a couple of nights there. It was my first time to see a classical concert. Very enjoyable. And of course it was quite touching when I heard my favorite wedding song ‘Pachabel’ playing live! Especially with my dearest and nearest. Then we drove to Tuscany. I always dreamt to go there one day and then my dream came true. It is such a beautiful country site. Thank you Robert for taking me there. We woke up and saw endless of hills and olive trees. Everything was wonderful. The vineyard that we drove pass. The fresh air that we breathe in. And all the food and wine we enjoyed so much. Every meal we had we drank wine. Such a hard life :) Love is a wonderful thing. It makes you see the world differently. It is not only yourself you care about, but also your loved one. And now it is not only me or you but it is us. Sometimes we might have some bumps along the way. But that makes our love stronger. I am happy with what I have now. It is the best thing I have ever had. January 09 Happy New Year 2008Hope it is not too late to wish everyone a great 2008. Well, I know I have been lazy for the past half year. So now it is new year and a good excuse for me to start writing my blog again. My 2007 was great. Work has been going well and I am going to get upgraded to work in a business class soon! Love has been great. Thank you my dear Robert who has been always looking after me. So how was your 2007? Hope you had a good one too.
Now it is 2008. What is your new year's resolution? Mine? I have a few to follow. The very first thing is not to be in Dubai next new year! The past new year we were driving to see fireworks at Dubai Creek but ended up in the traffic jam in car park. And the fireworks lasted only 3 minutes I think. Very disappointing. My other resolutions are to eat more vegetables (I am a bad bunny not like veggies), to excercise more, to not be lazy, and to write a blog at least once a month! Do they sound good? Will I keep them? We will see... July 02 Up, up, and away...Time flies. I have been in Dubai for 8 months now. Well, not really 8 months as my job always takes me away somewhere different. I have been enjoying my career so far. Although sometimes I met some not so nice people on board, I just let it go. On the other hand, there are many people being so helpful and friendly out there. Once I was on HKG-BKK flight. There was a group of Hong Kong people on board. I asked them if they were going to Bangkok or onward to Dubai as I needed to give them landing cards. They looked so blank. They did not have a clue what I was talking about. I kept asking so many times with a very short and easy question 'Bangkok or Dubai?' They were still quiet. Suddenly one lady stood up and said loudly 'Yes!' I looked confused. I know 'yes' but 'yes what?' So I asked her again 'Bangkok or Dubai?' Then again she kept saying 'yes, yes, yes!' All her freinds were laughing that I did not understand her. So I was just laughing along and said 'Wo bu dong!' I wish my chinese was better than that! Lost in translation...
This month I am on top bid. My roster is not too bad. I have 3 days Bangkok. It is always nice to go home. Also I have 2 new destinations Beijing and Nagoya. My 1st time in Japan! I am excited to see Japan. It is so hard to get Japan flight as they need native speakers on board. One more layover is Perth. It is winter there now. I need to wrap up warm!
And of course my least favorite month will be coming soon -- a standby month in August. You never know where you will be going. Turnarounds or layovers. You just stay home and wait for phonecalls and someone will tell you where you go. And you can fly anytime of day even 2 or 3 in the morning. Strange life...
You can follow up my travels on Pictures page. Enjoy! March 27 Long time no seeIt has been so long that I did not write this blog. Sorry. But I always did put some new pictures from my travel. Hope that could still keep your attention!! I just came back from my Bangkok trip. And this trip I had some time to go home which is always nice. I will try to go back to Thailand at least once a month. And yes next month I will be on leave again. It will be fun to be there on Songkran-Thai New Year. It is time for throwing water!
I forgot how hot Bangkok is but that could not stop me from shopping at the markets
My flying career has been good so far. I have been flying for 4 months now. Time flies. I enjoy what I am doing. I am always excited to see new places. Next month I will go to Sydney, Christchurch, Zurich, and London. I have 2 London flights. I will try to swap it with something else. Well, London is nice but I will prefer to go there in summer. European flights are always nice to get. I do like Europe. It is not too far and there are many beautiful countries. But you know that my favorite destination is always Bangkok |
Hope you enjoy my site. Wanna say anything? Say it now!
